Three tips to help you have a great transaction in the winter market.
Hey there. Sandy with Sandy and Company. And today, we’re talking about three ways to make money in our winter market.
Happy winter. I have heard so many times that winter is not a good time to sell your house or to buy a house. And that’s just poppycock because there are sellers and there are buyers right now that are motivated that need to make it happen, and there is plenty of opportunity to make money both as a buyer and the seller in a winter market.
Step number one—this is pretty much for sellers. Make it clean, make it solid. If it looks like it might be broken, fix it. We don’t need to make everything the latest and greatest, but we do need to make it strong and in good repair. We want to show the buyers that this is a good opportunity and this will be a great investment for the hundreds of thousands of dollars that any one of our buyers is going to spend right now.

Tip number two—If you want to make money in your house, you need to show it is a peaceful, spacious house to live in. So that means clean it out, pare it down. I will often tell people that they need to remove anywhere from a third to half to even two-thirds of their decorations so that they can show that there is a lot of space for storage and there is a lot of display area, and great space just to live in this house.
Tip number three—this is for sellers and buyers. Know your numbers. This is something that I get to help you with. Do your research. Find out what a great market opportunity is for a house that you’re looking for in this market, in the area that you want to live. Take a look what sellers have been getting like yours in your area so that you can decide what is a buyer going to be excited about and what is a buyer going to say.
