After years of renting, this couple got their LNI settlement, called a lender, and landed a one-level home near Banks Lake with their buddy around the corner.

I wanted to tell you about one of our favorite couples that we helped at the end of last year, because their story is one of those reminders that it’s never too late to find the right home.

It wasn’t his first house. He’d had one in a younger lifetime. But this was her first home. They had been renting from a family, and it was a good situation. They were helpful to have around. But it was just time to be in their own place where they could paint their own colors and really be in a home of their own.

Retirement changed the picture. She was just about to retire, and he was already retired, not by choice, but because his body had quit after decades of heavy machinery mechanics, going all the way back to the 80s. He was waiting on an LNI assessment and settlement, and that process took time. About two or three years ago, their buddy had moved over to Banks Lake in Eastern Washington, and that planted the seed.

Banks Lake was the right fit. It was out of the city, out of the rain, and near some phenomenal fishing. When the LNI settlement finally came through, he made the smart move. He called us and then called our lender, and they found out they could make life work on that income in a small Eastern Washington town. He got approved, and we were off.

“Four weeks later, they had their keys and spent the holidays without that long drive over the pass.”

One day, one home, one decision. We took a day and looked at three or four houses. I wasn’t sure if anyone really stood out to them at first, but after they talked it through, one home rose to the top. It was a one-level home with a big kitchen, a big garage, a small view of the lake, and it was right around the corner from their buddy. Match made in heaven.

Four weeks later, they had their keys. Since then, they’ve spent the holidays together without that long drive over the pass. Pretty much the way retirement should be, wouldn’t you think?

If you know someone who might be a little late to the party, but they’ve got a nest egg or maybe a windfall, and they really want to make it count, share this video with them. We would love to walk alongside them and help them make that smart decision that will make a big difference in their life. Whether you’re looking for help in the greater Seattle area, Eastern Washington, or anywhere across the state, we’re glad to talk.
